Harvest is in full swing.  We have harvested the English lavender, yarrow, and strawberries galore!  The Grosso lavender is coming on strong. I will be harvesting it coming this weekend.

Things are growing in our wildflower fields. Our late spring/early summer meadow was filled with pinks, purples, whites and yellows.  Now that we are entering July, we have a huge field of bright yellows, oranges, a few pops of dark pinks and white.  Sunflowers are starting to take bloom.

Our Website has changed over to the new name!  Lainey’s Cottage Garden.  I have submitted paperwork to the state for the change.  With that I would like to address visiting our gardens.

We are not a traditional lavender or flower farm, which is open to the public and has garden tours and visiting hours, u-pick, etc.

Our gardens are behind our home and even though we have multiple acres we are zoned in an improved residential area.  I have tried to make this very clear on our website and in discussing with people wanting to visit us.

Another reason we are not open to the public is because privacy issues for our family and to be good neighbors to the people on either side of us.  Additionally, there are liability issues that go along with having people on the property and events. At this time, our family is just not prepared to tackle these issues.

Sadly, I have stopped offering product pick up.  Our orders will only be able to be obtained by shipping.  When and if I resume product pick up it will be reserved for people in town or directly adjacent to the area.

I have had many pick up requests this summer from people who are not from the local area. When they arrive, they often want a tour of the “farm” despite the website descriptions.  While I would love to accommodate people, I just cannot due to the above reasons stated above.  If this changes and we start to offer garden tours, I will post about it on the website.  Until then, I will continue to post pictures here and our Instagram account.

I also recommend going to the Great Lakes Lavender Growers website to find lavender farms that are offering agritourism experiences.

Thank you for understanding.
